SAFETY:DEFINITION OF SAFETY.

While the Oxford English Dictionary simply defined safety as "being safe, freedom from danger or risk," Wiktionary defined it as "The condition or feeling of being safe; security; certainty." The online encyclopedia,is as expected more elaborate. According to the Wikipedia,"Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm or any other event which could be considered non-desirable. This can take the form of being protected from the event or from exposure to something that causes health or economical losses. It can include protection of people or of possessions." This is a broad definition of the term "safety". Still quoting from the online encyclopedia,"It's important to realize that safety is relative. Eliminating all risk, if even possible, would be extremely difficult and very expensive. A safe situation is one where risks of injury or property damage are low and manageable." We are in support of these views from the wikipedia.
However,we intend to use the word "safety" in its restrictive form in this blog to refer to freedom from risk/danger resulting from accidents either in our places of work (which could be industrial or otherwise),at home, while travelling on the road, air or waterway or while enjoying our leisure and which could adversely affect our health or properties.
